Free breakfast and lunch for all Bensalem SD students

The Bensalem Township School District has announced that free breakfast and lunch for all Bensalem SD students are returning for this school year. The program will operate under the Community Eligibility Provision, which is available to schools and districts that participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.

In July the Bensalem SD informed parents that free breakfast and lunch for all Bensalem students had ended as of the end of June. The waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture which allowed the suspension of the eligibility requirements for the National School Lunch Program expired.

No fees, no applications

All BTSD students are eligible for the meal programs without filling out applications or paying any fee. However, there will be a charge for any snacks or a la carte items, which had always been the case.

The district is encouraging families to apply for the Free/Reduced Meal Program. Approval for the program may allow families to qualify for possible additional P-EBT benefits from the state, fee waivers for college applications, and fee waivers for certain testing, i.e. SAT’s. Families can apply for the Free/Reduced Meal Program at www.schoolcafe.com.

The Bensalem Township SD does have a contact number for the Food Services Department, should you have any questions.  215-750-2800 ext. 4080.
