Bensalem Joins Statewide Mobilization Against Aggressive Drivers
The Bensalem Police Department will join PennDot, State Police, and over 80 other police departments from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties to target aggressive driving. This collective effort aims to reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities on our area roadways.
“The enforcement wave will target heavy truck violations, pedestrian safety, red light running, and tailgating,” PennDOT says. “Motorists demonstrating unsafe behaviors, such as driving too fast for conditions or other aggressive actions, will also be cited.”
According to PennDOT, throughout 2023, there were 1,363 aggressive driving crashes, resulting in 39 fatalities and 104 suspected serious injuries in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
Traffic enforcement zones, saturation patrols, speed enforcement details, corridor enforcement, work zone enforcement, and multi-jurisdictional patrols will be used by police to identify and ticket aggressive drivers.
The joint enforcement effort will target violations by heavy trucks, pedestrian safety, red light running, tailgating, careless turning, passing, excessive speed, and running stop signs.
Any aggressive driver stopped by police will receive a ticket.
The statewide effort will run through August 18.
