Bensalem Seniors Property Tax Relief

The Bensalem Township School District has announced it is continuing its property tax relief program for local seniors. Qualified senior citizens in the township can now apply for a rebate of up to $1,050 to help offset their school property tax bills.

With the cost of living remaining a concern for many on fixed incomes, this program aims to put money back in the pockets of our longest-standing residents. The deadline to submit an application for this cycle is June 30, 2026.

To participate in the program, residents must meet specific age and income requirements. You must turn 65 by December 31, 2025, and have a total annual household income of less than $22,500. When calculating that income, you only need to count 50% of your Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits, though 100% of any other income sources must be included.

Where to Get Forms:

  • Online: bensalemsd.org/seniortaxrebate/
  • In-person: The Admin Center (Donallen Dr), Senior Center (Byberry Rd), or Tax Office (Hulmeville Rd).
  • Deadline: You have until June 30, 2026, to apply.

This local rebate program has a long history of helping neighbors; since its inception in 1977, the district reports it has paid out over $3 million in rebates to Bensalem seniors.

Why It Matters to Bensalem

School taxes often make up the largest portion of a homeowner’s tax bill, which can be a significant burden for retirees living on a fixed budget. This rebate provides direct, local relief without waiting for state-level action. If you or a neighbor qualifies, this could mean keeping over a thousand dollars in your bank account rather than paying it toward the school district this year.
