MATAMOSKA & THE PHENSIC with Special Guests

May 17, 2024, 6:30 PM – 11:30 PM

FW Shows and Broken Goblet present this killer ska party on Friday, May 17th with a slight change to our originally announced lineup. Unfortunately, Bumsy and the Moochers had to drop off the show BUT we’re excited to announce that THE PHENSIC are coming back to the Goblet, and not only that they’re dropping their brand new live LP for a RECORD RELEASE show as well.

Formed during the infancy of LA’s ghetto Ska-Punk movement and considered “OG’s” of the current Ska movement, MATAMOSKA has gained notoriety in the underground ska scene since 2000 for their signature mix of styles, sounds, influences, and languages. Following the release of their demo, Matamoska!: Ghetto Ska in April of 2001, the band developed a  dedicated following, and singles like “Problema Sin Solucion” and “Soledad”  were featured on various Ska compilation albums such as Smelvis Records’ Backyard City Rockers (2002) and Obscene Records’ Keeping the Spirit Alive (2002). Over the past two decades the band has released several EPs and LPs too much fanfare and continue to be a driving force in the Los Angeles ska scene.

New Jersey’s THE PHENSIC are hardly new to the ska scene. Featuring former members of Bigger Thomas and Rude Boy George as well as current members of the Hub City Stompers it’s no surprise that this new project hit the scene with a seasoned veteran sound that balances powerful and danceable reggae, punk rock & 2-Tone ska. If you missed their set last Fall in support of The Pietasters don’t make that same mistake twice. The band will also be celebrating the release of their brand new vinyl LP release DCxPC Live.

New Jersey’s THIRSTY GUYS dropped their debut LP, …Out to Lunch!, on Bad Time Records last year but have stayed relatively under the radar, but that’s sure to change real soon.

BACKYARD SUPERHEROES have been a staple on the Jersey/Philly ska scene for the better part of the last decade with standout releases like 2018’s Never Give Up, Never Surrender.

The UKs CALL ME MALCOLM hit the US in support of their upcoming Bad Time LP, Echos and Ghosts which dropped in March.
