Finding an old friend at Old Friends Pizza
There are a lot of pizzerias in Bensalem and you can easily find yourself settling on the closest one or the one that delivers the fastest. The problem with that of course is you’re most likely settling for well, not great pizza.
That’s what happened to me. I loved pizza but couldn’t find a decent slice to save my life. Too soggy, too oily, too much sauce, not enough sauce, or just bad sauce. So I ended up just settling for meh pizza, which was close enough to me to not mind eating it.
This was all until while at a function where there were a couple of dozen pizzas where provided, I was introduced to two pizzerias that were simply amazing. We’ll talk about the other in a different post. For now, we’re going to talk about Old Friends Pizza.
It’s been more than a few months since my first slice from Old Friends, it was a slice of Grandma pie. Have you ever eaten something so good, you find yourself talking out loud about how good it is? Well, after that first bite, I found myself saying, OMG that is so good! Now a Grandma pie can be hard to get right. Get the crust wrong, have bad sauce, or the wrong amount of cheese, and forget it.
The Grandma pie was perfect, the plain was perfect, and the margarita was incredible. It was like meeting an old friend you haven’t seen in ages and you just pick up right where you left off. I found my love of pizza again. Not to mention meatball parms, chicken parm, calzones, and sausage rolls, all fantastic.
I haven’t had an order go wrong yet. And every time I go in, I get a “hello, nice to see you again” from the owner. An owner I’ve never seen hanging around not busy making endless pizza. It’s just something you don’t see much these days. It’s very welcoming.
