While much of the rest of the country looks at the benefits of a later start time for middle and high school kids, the Bensalem Township School District announces time changes of their own.
In a May 12th post on the district website, District Superintendent Dr. Samuel Lee announces a ten-minute shift in the start and end times for all schools.
Student Arrival and Dismissal Times for 2022-2023 School Year
High School        7:21 AM – 2:11 PM
Middle School      8:10 AM – 2:56 PM
Elementary School  8:55 AM – 3:41 PM
The American Academy of Pediatrics began recommending that middle and high schoolers start no earlier than 8:30 am in 2014 and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention followed suit in 2015. Nationally, the average start time for high schoolers is 8:00 am.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia school system earlier this year that all but four of their high schools will move to a 9:00 am start time.
