Bensalem Declares Disaster Emergency

In response to the looming winter storm forecast to hit the region this Sunday, Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo has officially signed a Declaration of Disaster Emergency for Bensalem Township.

Timeline & Hazards

  • Timing: The storm is expected to impact the area starting Sunday morning and continuing into Monday morning.
  • Primary Threats: Heavy snow. Residents should be prepared for potential power outages.

Township Preparations

Public Works crews are already mobilizing to prepare the roads. The Township has also secured outside contractors to assist with plowing efforts to ensure major arteries and neighborhood streets remain as clear as possible.

Important Reminders for Residents

To assist crews in clearing the roads safely and efficiently, the Township is asking residents to adhere to the following:

  • Remove Vehicles from Streets: Please move all cars off the street immediately to allow plows to pass.
  • Wait to Shovel: Residents are advised to wait until plowing is complete before clearing their driveways. Clearing your driveway too early often results in plows pushing snow back onto the apron, undoing your hard work.

Who to Call

  • For Emergencies: Dial 911 immediately.
  • For Township/Plowing Issues: Contact Public Works directly – 215-633-3980.

The official Declaration of Disaster Emergency, containing further details and obligations, will be posted for public view.
