Playa Bowls Now Open in Bensalem

Playa Bowls, the nation’s leading superfruit bowl shop specializing in bowls such as acai and pitaya, oatmeal, smoothies, juices, cold brew, and more, opened their Bensalem location on Saturday, April 6th. Offering free bowls and limited-edition T-shirts to the first 75 guests in line with additional giveaways throughout the day.

The Bensalem shop is owned and operated by husband-and-wife duo, Bronwyn and Mike Bergen, who spent over 30 years in Bucks County. This latest opening marks the fourth Playa Bowls shop for the couple who opened their first location in Newtown in 2020 followed by two more shops in Fairless Hills and Fort Myers.

“We look forward to welcoming Bensalem guests to experience their own personal paradise between the tropical ambiance and indulgent offerings as they step foot into our newest Playa Bowls shop,” said Bronwyn Bergen. “As a former Pennsylvania school teacher, I take pride in setting our children and communities up for success, and part of that is providing them with meal options that are packed with wholesome ingredients like Playa Bowls’ smoothies and bowls.”

The Bergens will continue expansion with the health-conscious food brand as they anticipate the opening of their fifth location in nearby Wilkes-Barre later this month.

Playa Bowls was founded by surfers Abby Taylor and Rob Giuliani who were inspired by the deliciously healthy acai and pitaya bowls they encountered on various surf trips from Costa Rica to Hawaii. After discovering new and unique twists on this popular post-surf treat at each beach, they decided to set up a blender and a folding table on the boardwalk in their hometown of Belmar, and Playa Bowls was born. Now, after eight years, thousands of employees, and hundreds of thousands of bowls later, Playa Bowls continues to offer superfruit bowls with a mission to lead communities in healthy, sustainable living. The shop also offers a selection of juices, smoothies, cold brews, and other select drinks.
