Bensalem Township Police have upgraded charges against a former resident following the tragic death of a child victim, more than a decade after the initial abuse occurred. Kyle Hinkle, 38, now of Allentown, Pennsylvania, has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the death of his 11-year-old son.

The investigation dates back to October 12, 2012, when authorities investigated a case of severe physical abuse at a residence on Virginia Avenue in Bensalem. At that time, medical staff reported that Hinkle’s then three-month-old infant had sustained critical injuries, including bleeding in the brain and retinal hemorrhages. These injuries were determined by medical experts to be consistent with abusive head trauma caused by significant force.

Hinkle subsequently admitted to shaking the infant to stop the child from crying. He pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault and served a prison sentence for those crimes.

The case was reopened on August 14, 2024, when police were notified that the victim had passed away in Oliver, Pennsylvania. A forensic autopsy conducted in Westmoreland County concluded that the child’s death was directly caused by complications from the blunt force trauma to the head and neck inflicted during the 2012 incident.

Based on these medical findings, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office approved new charges. On November 24, 2025, a warrant was issued for Hinkle’s arrest on charges of third-degree murder. Bensalem investigators, with assistance from the Allentown Police Department, located Hinkle at his workplace and took him into custody.

Kyle Hinkle was arraigned before District Justice Michael Gallagher and has been remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

He is currently being held in lieu of 10% of $2,000,000 bail.
