Bensalem’s Juniper Village Earns Top National Honor for Dementia Care

Share

Bensalem seniors and their families have a nationally recognized care option close to home this week.

Juniper Village at Bucks County, located at 3200 Bensalem Boulevard, has earned the Excellence in Care® Dementia Care Program of Distinction from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America — a prestigious national certification recognizing high standards in memory care and assisted living services.

The Details

The recognition didn’t come easily. To secure this title, the community underwent a rigorous, in-person evaluation by AFA experts. These specialists looked at every corner of the operation, from the safety of the physical environment and staff training protocols to the nutritional quality of the meals and the level of daily resident engagement.

Assessors were particularly impressed by how the staff balanced professional medical standards with a warm, “person-centered” touch. The report highlighted the community’s focus on maintaining resident autonomy and dignity through empathetic care and visual tools used during dining to help residents stay independent.

“The award reflects a team-wide dedication to creating an environment where residents can truly thrive.,” said Liz Plozner-Chalfa, Regional Director for Juniper Communities.

What the recognition means

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Excellence in Care program evaluates senior living communities nationwide on several factors, including:

  • Staff education and dementia-specific training
  • Safety procedures and emergency preparedness
  • Individualized care planning
  • Resident engagement and quality-of-life programming

Facilities must complete a detailed application and undergo a comprehensive review before receiving the designation.

According to the organization, fewer than 10% of memory care communities nationwide currently hold the certification.

At Juniper Village, staff members participate in ongoing dementia-care training and use structured programs designed to support independence, dignity, and daily routines for residents.

Why It Matters to Bensalem

For Bensalem families navigating the difficult journey of a dementia or Alzheimer’s diagnosis, this certification provides a localized “gold standard” for care. Rather than having to look toward Philadelphia or further out into the suburbs for top-tier memory care, residents have access to a nationally recognized program right here in our own backyard.

As the local population ages, the presence of an AFA-certified facility at 3200 Bensalem Boulevard ensures that our neighbors can receive specialized, high-quality healthcare without being uprooted from the community they call home. It also sets a high bar for senior living standards across the greater Bensalem area.
