Imagination Land May Be In For An Overhaul

Bensalem Township seems to be moving for an overhaul of The Imagination Land playground with the construction looking to start in January 2025 and completed the following summer.

During the council meeting, a resolution was brought forward to apply for a grant to modernize Imagination Land with additional features for children with disabilities, including a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round and some of the older features would be reinstalled.

The projected cost of the overhaul is $530,000. The maximum grant award is $250,000 which requires a dollar-for-dollar match from the township.

Unfortunately, the playground would have to be closed during the entire construction period.

The last time Imagination Land was closed for any length of time was in June of 2021 when it was closed for just over a month in order to install the current ground covering.

Imagination Land Playground is one of the first fully accessible playgrounds that meets the needs of handicapped children and promotes inclusion with special equipment.

As a side note, Bensalem residents don’t have to attend the council meeting in person to keep up with what’s going on in the township. They do a great job videoing all the meetings and posting each one on their YouTube channel. The video below is from the May 20th meeting. Of course, you can always keep up with us on Bensalem Weekly too!
