About the Event/Performer

It’s a Philadelphia beer tradition that refuses to die. “Friday the Firkinteenth,” the legendary cask ale festival originally popularized by The Grey Lodge Pub, returns for its 49th installment (and 29th year!). Hosted by Scoats and Lucky Cat Beer Co., this event takes over the Mixing Room at Broken Goblet for a day dedicated to “real ale.”

For the uninitiated, a “firkin” is a small cask used for conditioning and serving beer without added nitrogen or CO2 pressure. The result is a smoother, slightly warmer, and often more complex pint. This festival brings together a curated list of unique, rare, and one-off casks from some of the best breweries in the region.

Expect a loose, festive atmosphere where the beer is the star. There are no tickets or entry fees—just show up, grab a glass, and explore the tap list. Whether you’re a cask purist or just curious about what beer tasted like before modern kegs took over, this is the place to be.

Venue Details

Broken Goblet Brewing (The Mixing Room)

  • Vibe: This event is held in the “Mixing Room” (the main taproom/bar area), which offers a more relaxed, social pub atmosphere compared to the large music hall next door.
  • Parking: Large free lot on-site (front and rear).
  • Food/Drink: In addition to the special cask ales, the full Broken Goblet tap list is available. The on-site kitchen serves wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and bar bites.
  • Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible via the rear entrance only.

💡 Pro Tip: Looking to turn this into a double header? While the Firkinteenth is free in the taproom, the Music Room next door is hosting Rift (Phish Tribute) starting at 7:00 PM that same night. You can sip rare ales in the afternoon and jam out in the evening (separate ticket required for the show).
