Local coalition sets dates for MLK Day celebration and community visits

Building A Better Bensalem Together (B3T) has announced its schedule for Unity Week 2026, a three-day celebration dedicated to reinforcing diversity and unity within the township. Scheduled to run from Monday, January 19, through Wednesday, January 21, the event series coincides with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, offering residents multiple opportunities to connect with neighbors and learn about the diverse cultures that make up the Bensalem community.

The Details

The week begins with a free Breakfast Celebration on Monday, January 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Parx East. Residents interested in attending the kickoff breakfast must act quickly, as seating is limited. Reservations are required and must be submitted via email to B3Tcoalition@gmail.com (Subject: “B3T UW”) no later than Monday, January 12, 2026.

Following the breakfast, the coalition has organized a tour of local houses of worship throughout the week. Refreshments will be provided at all evening and morning host locations.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, Jan 19 (Evening): 7:00 p.m. at Linconia Tabernacle, 2460 Paris Ave., Trevose.
  • Tuesday, Jan 20 (Morning): 9:00 a.m. at Bensalem United Methodist Church, 4300 Hulmeville Rd.
  • Tuesday, Jan 20 (Evening): 7:00 p.m. at St. Gregorios Malankara Orthodox Church, 4136 Hulmeville Rd. Attendees are asked to remove their shoes before entering the temple.
  • Wednesday, Jan 21 (Evening): 7:00 p.m. at Love Fellowship Tabernacle, 5918 Hulmeville Rd.

Why It Matters to Bensalem

Beyond the social gatherings, these events serve a functional purpose for township cohesion. The initiative aligns with the “No Place for Hate®” model, which provides local communities with tools to challenge racism, anti-Semitism, and bigotry. By bringing residents physically into different cultural and religious spaces along major local corridors like Hulmeville Road and Paris Avenue, B3T aims to reduce bias and bullying while building a “community of respect”.
