About Bensalem Weekly

The Pulse of Bensalem Township

Bensalem Weekly is an independent, hyper-local news source dedicated exclusively to Bensalem Township, PA.

In an era where local newspapers are disappearing or merging into regional conglomerates, we believe that Bensalem—a community of over 60,000 people—deserves its own dedicated platform.

Our Mission

Our goal is simple: To make it easy for residents to stay informed and engaged. We believe that you shouldn’t have to hunt across a dozen different websites to find out what the School Board voted on or what time the Fall Festival starts. We do the hunting for you.

How We Work

Bensalem Weekly is a modern, independent publisher. We leverage advanced digital tools and AI-assisted research to monitor local government, public safety feeds, and community organizations 24/7. This “digital newsroom” allows us to cover more ground and deliver timely, accurate summaries of the events shaping our town.

While we use technology to gather the dots, a human is always connecting them. We remain committed to accuracy, fairness, and our community.

Who Are We

E Westfall is the new Publisher and Editor of Bensalem Weekly. A resident of the township for a decade, Eric launched the publication to solve a personal frustration: the constant struggle to find out what was actually happening in town. After years of missing grand openings, finding out about concerts too late, and digging through minutes to understand why school taxes were going up, he decided to build the solution himself. His goal for Bensalem Weekly is simple: to stop the “hunting and searching” and give residents one reliable place for both hard news and local life.

James O’Malley is the Civic Affairs Reporter for Bensalem Weekly. He covers the Bensalem Township Council, the Mayor’s office, and the Zoning Hearing Board. With a focus on transparency and local government accountability, James breaks down how local ordinances and tax dollars impact residents’ daily lives. He believes every resident should know what happens at the Municipal Building on Byberry Road.

Michelle Davis covers the Education beat for Bensalem Weekly. A mother of two Bensalem High School alumni, Michelle has spent over a decade attending Bensalem Township School Board meetings. She specializes in translating complex district budgets, curriculum changes, and student achievements into plain English for busy parents. If it’s happening in a Bensalem classroom, Michelle is writing about it.

David Russo covers the hospitality and dining beat for Bensalem Weekly. With a focus on consumer advocacy, David tracks health inspection scores, new development permits, and local dining trends in the 19020 zip code. His “Verdict” column provides impartial, data-backed summaries of local establishments, helping residents make informed dining decisions without the fluff.
