Bensalem Council Adopts 2026 Budget

Share

Bensalem Township Council has officially approved the 2026 Municipal Budget, delivering a financial plan that holds the line on property taxes for the 30th consecutive year. The approved budget maintains the current township tax rate at 17.55 mills.

The primary focus of this year’s spending is public safety, which accounts for 65% of the General Fund budget. To address emergency response needs, the budget includes funding to hire four additional full-time firefighters, supported by a federal SAFER grant. This move aims to bolster the Bensalem Fire Rescue’s ability to respond to emergencies during daytime hours when volunteer availability is often lower.

  • Homeowner Relief: The popular Homeowners’ Assistance Grant will continue for 2026, providing a $300 direct payment to eligible residents funded by casino host fees.
  • Country Club Dining: A $2.25 million grant will fund the renovation of the historic “Farm House” at the Bensalem Country Club, transforming it into a full-service restaurant and event facility open to the public.
  • Park Upgrades: Following the success of courts in Mill Creek Farms, new pickleball courts are slated for construction at Bensalem Central Park.
  • Playground Redesign: Construction is underway for a complete redesign of the Imaginationland playground to make it fully accessible for children of all abilities, including those with sensory sensitivities.+1
  • Fire Department Consolidation: The budget reflects the recent consolidation of six volunteer fire companies into a single “Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department” to streamline operations.

What It Means for You

Residents will not see an increase in their township real estate taxes and can expect another $300 grant check if they qualify. You can also look forward to expanded recreational options, including new places to play pickleball and a new dining destination at the Country Club.
