Philly’s premier classic rock station, 102.9 WMGK, returns to Bensalem for the high-stakes preliminary rounds of the 2026 House Band Competition. Local rock groups will go head-to-head, shredding through timeless anthems in hopes of securing the ultimate title: the official WMGK House Band. Expect high energy, screaming guitar solos, and a crowd full of the most dedicated rock fans in Bucks County.
Each band will perform a high-octane set that includes a “mandatory” classic rock cover hand-picked by the WMGK DJs to test their chops. The vibe is part concert, part sports playoff—loud, competitive, and entirely live. Whether they are channeling Led Zeppelin or The Who, these local artists are playing for more than just bragging rights; they’re playing for airplay and a spot at MGK’s “Big Gig” later this year.
This is the first of three preliminary rounds held throughout February (2/4, 2/11, and 2/18). The winners from each night will advance to the Grand Finals on February 25th.
Since this is a “prelim” night, the atmosphere is often raw and unpredictable—you might just witness the birth of the region’s next big cover act.
